From hikes to overnighters, Fontenelle Nature Association's programs provide wonderful opportunities for
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to learn about the out-of-doors. With hands-on activities, games and
explorations, boys and girls discover nature's mysteries and magic. Make plans to have
your Scouts join us for these exciting adventures:
Boy & Girl Scouts After School
Want to go on a guided hike, see live animals, work on a badge or play games with a naturalist? Your scouts can spend one or two hours at the Fontenelle Forest or Neale Woods Nature Center beginning at 4 pm. Time spent with the naturalist can be catered to the scouts' needs with two weeks notice. Fees vary with program length.

Star Gazing for Webelos
Webelo Scouts can join a naturalist for a fun evening of sky exploration and earn their Astronomy Academic Pin and Belt Loop . Look at the night sky through telescopes, learn constellations, find the North Star, enjoy a “star snack,” and more.

Worlds in Water
Your troop will see the wet and wild side of Fontenelle Forest 's wetlands.
We'll use nets and buckets to investigate our pond, making all kinds of
discoveries of the aquatic kind. The morning session is designed for
Brownies working on their “Water Everywhere” Try-it; the afternoon
is for Juniors working on their “Water-Wonders” Badge.

Girl Scouts Backpacks
Come explore our forest and learn about the wonders of the outdoors
while earning a Try-It or Badge. All you need is in the backpack!
Brownies can earn either the Animal or the Eco-Explorer Try-It and
Juniors can earn either the Earth Connections or Wildlife Badge. Please
leave your driver's license with the front desk personnel while the
backpack is in use.

WHERE: Katherine and Fred Buffett Forest Learning Center
COST: $45 per backpack, includes admission for scouts and adults

Space Explorer
Brownies will love this evening program of stargazing and
astronomy-related activities. Discover the Milky Way, create your own
constellations, act out the Cassiopeia story and visit our outdoor Millard
Observatory. Scouts will be working towards their “Space Explorer” Try-It.
An evening snack is provided.

Starry, Starry Nights
Here's a special overnight for Juniors working toward their “Sky-Search”
Badge. Visit the outdoor Millard Observatory at Neale Woods and travel
great distances by using our telescopes as we search all kinds of celestial
delights. Find the North Star, create your own constellation, and
even take home a star wheel. An evening snack and continental breakfast are provided.

Fontenelle Nature Association offers
financial assistance through the
Bob Starr Memorial Scholarship Fund
for troops or individuals who cannot otherwise attend our programs.
To receive a scholarship, write a letter expressing your need and the program(s)
you are interested in. We will contact you within a few days of receiving your letter. Please send to:
