| Seniors Understanding Nature (SUN) |
SUN at Fontenelle Forest Nature CenterSUN is Fontenelle Nature Association's on-site program for active seniors (55+) that meets the second Tuesday of each month from September through May. Many seniors grew up in a time when nature was a big part of everyday life; SUN programs enhance that experience, as well as give participants an opportunity to reminisce about past experiences. Topics range from 'backyard feeder birds' and 'wildlife encounters' to more seasonal programs such as 'tracking wildlife' and 'butterflies and wildflowers.' Most programs are followed by a walk along the boardwalk. FNA sponsors provide light refreshments with coffee before each program. Traveling SUN
Traveling SUN is designed for seniors unable to come to Fontenelle Forest Nature Center. FNA staff will travel to facilities where seniors live or gather to facilitate one of our fourteen interactive programs. Thus, seniors living in an assisted living site or a senior church group can learn about 'butterflies and wildflowers' or play 'nature bingo.' There is a $55 fee for each program.
