From hikes to overnighters, Fontenelle Nature Association's scouting programs provide wonderful opportunities to learn about the outdoors through hands-on activities, games and exploration.

Programs

Want to go on a guided hike, see live animals, work on a badge or play games? Bring yours Scouts to Fontenelle Forest Nature Center for a one or two hour program led by a trained Naturalist. Registration is required two weeks in advance.

Explore our forest and learn about the wonders of the outdoors while earning a Try-It or Badge. The backpack has everything you need! Brownies can earn either the Animal or the Eco-Explorer Try-It and Juniors can earn either the Earth Connections or Wildlife Badge. Registration is required.

Cost $45 per troop

Brand new – a backpack available for Boy Scouts! Whether you have Tiger Scouts working on their Let’s Go Outside achievement or Scouts who just enjoy hiking, this backpack has everything you need. It is full of field guides that will help you identify the forest’s plants and animals. Registration is required.

Cost $45 per troop

Earn the Brownie Space Explorer Try-It or the Junior Sky Search Badge at Omaha’s largest public observatory. You will meet with a Naturalist for an hour to work on special requirements and then join the public astronomy program to learn about constellations and observe space through telescopes. Registration

To attend one of our Scouts programs, please call the Scouts Registrar at (402) 731-3140, ext. 230. Registration is required at least 2 weeks in advance for programs and at least 2 days in advance to reserve a backpack. Payment is due within ten days of registration. Mail payment to:

No refunds will be given unless Fontenelle Nature Association cancels the program due to weather.

Fontenelle Nature Association offers financial assistance through the Bob Starr Memorial Scholarship Fund for troops or individuals who cannot otherwise attend our programs.

To apply for a scholarship, write a letter expressing your need and the program(s) your troop would like to attend. We will contact you within a few days of receiving your letter. Please send to:
